Time Brainstorming
Terrestrial Brainstorming
- tate's hell state forest and national park
- focus on Time and spaces through legends and oral mythology, how this space is socailly significant to locals because of the story
- Speaks to Barth's mythology how stories travel and are given meaning by people they come in contact with
- all the different pathways use in the video to overlap, the boardwalk, the porch and the dirt road, use ocerlay, play with opacity to represent time
- conclusion of the story is death, the board walk looked like a path to heaven, through the grass clearing at the beginning lined with trees
- information sourced from information sign near the road to the entrance
- horizon over dwarf cypress trees through the clearing overlap the horizons, camera movement to follow the eye of someone scaling the horizon
- trees in Florida grow taller dwarf cypress only grow to a certain height
- Terrestrial - stone, in painting I've been using stone and stone as representations of people to represent how humanity doesn't last forever but earthly elements such as rocks and stone
- recently received a gift of hand tumbled rocks from a friend that are meant to have "cleansing energy", weather or not you believe in that
- go to cemetary and place the small cleansing stones on the tomb stones...
- snow is deep around the stones, they don't maintain areas between headstones in the winter
- before placing the stone, clear off snow,
- use of overlay in editing and time ramping to play with distance and temporal elements
- play with keying effect in final cut pro, experimentation with colour through gesture,
- face touching as a physical manifestation of nervous habits
- film using multi - cam set up to have the tradition interrogation angle of people being interviewed, and use my cell phone as a consistently unstable shot to contrast with the DSLR set up on a tripod
- key in a glowing light shining behind the people, as they go on more of their personal aura is exposed
- film in the art building for the institutional looking surroundings
- instead og glow, use tv static and colour bars that signify the end of a show, and the end of the video, when most of their faces have been wiped away.
- cut interviews together rather than playing one after the other
- - greater sense of continuity, creates a connection between the individuals.
- I had to step in because one of my actors bailed on the project but i think it worked out well and gave the video a more personal touch
